The San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) distributed three scholarship awards in the 2009-2010 fiscal year, and anticipate distributing similar scholarship awards next year.
Who is eligible?
Students currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree program majoring in Accounting, Finance, or Economics in a San Diego County college or university maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Scholarships are open to both men and women.
What award amounts are available?
In 2009-2010 fiscal year, a $1000 scholarship was awarded to a student enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program, and two $500 scholarships were awarded to two students enrolled in an Associate’s Degree program. In addition to the scholarship, all scholarship recipients received a free one-year student membership in the San Diego Chapter of ASWA.

What is ASWA?
The mission of ASWA San Diego is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.
Members include partners in national, regional and local CPA firms, financial officers, controllers, academicians, staff accountants, financial analysts, data processing consultants, recent college graduates, students, and women returning to the work force.
ASWA was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The first chapter was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The majority of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.
