The American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) San Diego Chapter and the national ASWA Education Foundation currently have the following scholarship awards available for the 2011-2012 School Year.
Scholarship awards available from the ASWA San Diego Chapter:
1) Undergraduate Scholarship: One $1,000 award to support the cost of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting, finance or related Bachelor’s degree.
2) Associate or Certificate Scholarship: One $500 award to support the cost of attending 1st or 2nd year when pursuing an accounting, finance or related Associates Degree or to support the cost of attending a Certificate program in Accounting.
3) ASWA Member Scholarship for CPA Review Course: One $500 award to help support the cost of a CPA Review course. This scholarship is open only to current ASWA San Diego members.
In addition to the scholarship award, all scholarship recipients will be eligible to attend ASWA San Diego’s meetings and events at the member price for one year.
Scholarship awards available from the ASWA Education Foundation:
1) Undergraduate Scholarship. This is to support the cost of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting or finance degree. This opportunity is open to the public.
2) Master’s Scholarship. This is for those attending an accredited College or University enrolled in a master’s program, and is pursuing an accounting or finance degree. This opportunity is open to the public.
3) ASWA Member Scholarship for Certification. This is open to current ASWA members only and is intended to support the exam fees for the following certifications: CPA, CFP, CFE, CIA, CMA, or CVA.
4) ASWA Member Scholarship for CPAexcel Review. This is open to current ASWA members only and is intended to provide registration for a CPAexcel CPA Review Course.
5) ASWA Member Scholarship for Kaplan CPA Review. This is open to current ASWA members only and is intended to provide registration for a Kaplan CPA Review Course.
6) Dr. Mary Feeney Bonawitz Accounting PhD Scholarship. To honor and recognize the superlative achievement by ASWA members who are PhD students seeking a degree in accounting.
To be considered for the Dr. Mary Feeney Bonawitz, Accounting PhD Scholarship, please fully complete the application form and submit to your local chapter. To help the ASWA National scholarship committee determine the best scholarship recipient, please also submit a 150-250 word essay about your reasons for pursuing a PhD in accounting and how you plan to advocate for women in the accounting profession. Any applicant who does not submit a complete application form, essay and grade transcript will not be considered. The deadline to submit the PhD Accounting Scholarship application is March 1, 2012. Winners will be notified by May 1, 2012 for the upcoming 2012-2013 academic school year.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in the appropriate educational program
- For Graduate or Undergraduate Scholarships, applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- For Member Scholarships, applicants must be a current member of ASWA San Diego chapter
- Scholarships are open to both men and women.
