AFWA San Diego Scholarships Available to Accounting Students


The Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) San Diego Chapter currently has the following scholarship awards available:


Scholarship awards available for the 2012-2013 School Year are as follows:


1)  Undergraduate Scholarship:  One $750 award to support the cost of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting, finance or related Bachelor’s degree.


2) Associate or Certificate Scholarship:  One $500 award to support the cost of attending 1st or 2nd year when pursuing an accounting, finance or related Associates Degree or to support the cost of attending a Certificate program in Accounting.


In addition to the scholarship award, all scholarship recipients will be eligible to attend ASWA San Diego’s meetings and events at the member price for one year from the date of award.


Eligibility


- Applicants must be currently enrolled in the appropriate educational program

- Applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Scholarship awards available from the AFWA National Education Foundation for the 2013-2014 School Year are as follows:


1) Undergraduate Scholarship.  This is to support the cost of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting or finance degree.  This opportunity is open to the public and applications must be submitted to the San Diego chapter.


2) Master’s Scholarship.  This is for those attending an accredited College or University enrolled in a master’s program, and is pursuing an accounting or finance degree.  This opportunity is open to the public and applications must be submitted to the San Diego chapter.


MEMBER Scholarship awards available from the AFWA National Education Foundation to be awarded seasonally in the Fall and Spring are as follows:


1) Certification.  To support the exam fees of AFWA members for any one of the following certifications:  CPA, CFP, CFE, CIA, CMA, or CVA.

2) CPAexcel Review.  To provide registration for a CPAexcel CPA Review Course.

3) PhD Scholarship.  To cover the cost of research for a student seeking a PhD degree in accounting.


Eligibility:


- Applicants must be currently enrolled in the appropriate educational program

- For Undergraduate or Master’s Scholarships, applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better

- For Member Scholarships, applicants must be a current member of AFWA.


Member applications are available at the AFWA National website www.afwa.org.  Click on Member tab, sign in as a member, select Member Resources, the scholarship applications are located near the end of the page.  These applications are submitted directly to the National Education Foundation.
